Ever wonder what’s crawling, flying, and quietly working behind the scenes in our parks?Join Citrus County Parks and Recreation and Citrus County Mosquito Control for a Bug Hike at Fort Cooper State Park, where adults are invited to slow down, look closer, and discover the fascinating world of insects and other invertebrates. This guided hike explores how insects shape ecosystems, support wildlife, and play a critical role in mosquito management and public health. Participants will learn to recognize beneficial insects, understand food webs, and gain practical tips for coexisting with insects—both in parks and at home. This is not a lecture—it’s a hands-on, curiosity-driven outdoor experience designed to spark conversation, discovery, and a deeper appreciation for nature’s smallest (but mightiest) creatures.
Please bring water, wear closed-toed shoes, bug spray, and any necessities you will need.
Please note there is a $3 State Park entry fee.
