How do we control mosquitoes?

At CCMCD we use a variety of integrated mosquito management practices to reduce mosquito populations by interrupting the mosquito life cycle. Treating them while they are mosquito larvae in the water prevents them from hatching into flying, biting mosquitoes that can transmit disease.

More Than Just a Fog Truck:
Biological Controls
Gambusia mosquito fish are natural predators of mosquito larvae. They are an effective control tool in swamps and green pools.
Larvicides
Bacterial larvicides and insect growth regulators target mosquito larvae before they hatch into adults.
Public Education
Community involvement in mosquito prevention is essential to lasting mosquito control.
Surveillance
We monitor mosquito vector populations and mosquito-borne diseases to catch them before they become a problem.
